From idea to project: Preparing a draft proposal

Time: 29-30. November 2016, 09:00 - 17:00 both days

Place: Geophysical Institute, Bergen

Course leader: Friederike U. Hoffmann, Research Coordinator at GFI and EU expert evaluator

Target group: Early career scientists (PhD, Post Doc) in climate sciences with little or no experience in proposal writing

Number of participants: Max 12

Participants with own project ideas will be prioritized.

This course gives 1 credit point.

You will learn how to prepare a draft proposal which forms the basis for a successful proposal (project description) for a research project. You will learn

- How to plan and draft a proposal (where to start, how to structure)

- What are the different components of a project proposal

- How to draft a project budget

- Where you can apply for funding

The course includes lectures, group work and plenary discussion. During the course, the participants will develop the project ideas of 3 participants into ready-to-use draft proposals.
