12.04.2016 - 15.04.2016
Resclim podcast workshop
When: April 12-15.
Where: Bergen. Location is Vil Vite (Thormøhlens gate 51)
seminar room C. Time: 10-16.
Lecturer: Jack Soper, Producer
A practical workshop led by award-winning former BBC Radio Producer Jack Soper. This course examines the skills required to create short-form audio, such as podcasts, covering editorial and technical considerations. Jack ran the successful Resclim-Climatesnack workshop at The Grantham Institute for Climate Change at Imperial College London in 2014.
- To enable participants to assess key editorial decisions when writing and producing content;
- To provide introductory technical knowledge to record, edit and share high quality audio;
- To exchange ideas and encourage new ways of thinking about communication.
Participants will leave equipped with new editorial and technical knowledge to support their next steps in creating and working with audio. This time, as well as audio podcasts, Jack will discuss the use of video as a tool for communication. As before, the workshop will combine directed learning with practical work and group discussion.
The discursive nature of the course allows
participants to reflect on wider themes, for example new uses for
existing communication materials and different approaches to
targeting specific audiences.
No prior knowledge is required but participants should bring their own laptop and headphones as well as a recording device (e.g. iPhone) to capture audio (and video). They should consider the material they would like to work with to create an audio and/or video report during the workshop. They should bring a draft script or an idea of the contributors they would like to feature.
